H and I decided on a whim last night to go to London in early november. We will be there for 4 nights, and I'm in need of hotel or b&b recs. We really like to stay in small inns or b&bs when we travel, but we are not picky and would do ok with either a hotel or a b&b. I would like something not too far from the main city for easy access to sight seeing, and something clean but not too expensive - I would love if we could do $200 or less per night (no hostels).
And if anyone has any great tips for things to do/places to see in London I'm all ears! I've been to London a couple of times but H has never been so we plan on hitting the big tourist sites but would also love recs on other things off the beaten path. Thanks!
We stayed at the Cranley a few years ago and we really liked it. It's small, but our room was quite big, the location in Kensington is good, and I don't think it was over $200 (but we stayed there in early January, so maybe we just got a freakishly low off-season rate). The immediate area around it felt very residential.

The Park City hotel in South Kensington is nice. Its a little above your price range (i checked for a room in Nov and its running between USD $210-$250 a night). Its within walking distance of numerous museums and the Gloucester tube station is just a few blocks away.
Some things I do like about this hotel is that the bathrooms are huge (compared to other hotels), its convenient to public transportation (the Picadilly line stops at the Gloucester station and its the tube line that goes out to LHR), there is a mini fridge in the room and there are a few grocery stores near the hotel (Sainsbury's is around the corner). The hotel is in an old row house and its not a large property.
I used to live around the corner from this place: www.lincoln-house-hotel.com/. Had several family members stay there, with positive experiences. Rooms are no frills, but clean and comfortable, and you can't beat the location.

I would totally suggest doing one of these walking tours. I go to at least two every single summer and I've lived here for nine years - haven't had a bad one yet and you learn so much cool stuff. If you are beer drinkers, you can even incorporate it into one of the walks.
