I didn't totally get the series finale. Was it all a dream? - both realities? Or did he invent a third?

I never watched the show, but DH did and I'm curious. So, what was the "reality" -- his son died, or his wife died, or neither?

I could be wrong, but I believe the "reality" was that his wife died.

I thought that the end where both his wife and son were in the kitchen was another dream he created.

I know there was a post about this a while back I can't remember if it was on here or TN though.
