We have the American football finals for the french elite team tomorrow. Then there is the Fête Gourmande at a local park. A French national football match on the télé. hmmm...what else...maybe the cinema. I lost my phone at the cinema on wednesday and apparently someone thought the piece of crap was worth stealing, so I see phone shopping in my future!
QOTD: I ask this because a friend of mine is reentering the dating world and was talking with a guy who mentioned that his favorite movie was 10 Things I Hate About You. It struck me as an odd choice for anyone as a fave movie of all time, much less a man. My faves would probably Mary Poppins, Harry Potter 3,5,8, and probably some more serious choices that I cannot seem think of this early in the morning
I was exposed to an extremely small amount of of something I am very allergic to yesterday, the traces of it on a spoon. I had to go to the hospital and have the "epi-pen" shot because my nose and throat were swelling up (I am lucky because this happens very slowly for me). Then I had to go back and work like crazy on this project, when all I wanted was to sleep. I am however finally making really good progress on it and I will finish it according to my deadline. I'm under a lot of stress for other, boring reasons and I am making preparations for Egypt.
QOTD: I love too many for a favorite, but I love Dr. Zhivago, such a romantic beautiful poignant film. Apparently it was actually filmed in Yugoslavia and I have been to places in the mountains that remind me of it. My SO looks a bit like a young Omar Sharif, very dashing. Other sad romantic films I've loved are Immortal Beloved about Beethoven, The English Patient, yes to Casablanca. I love a lot of classic films. I also loved a movie from the 90's called A Life Less Ordinary that was my go-to teenage movie, not a classic but I liked its quirkiness.
My favorite actors are Joaquin Phoenix (very glad that he's given up the crazy shtick and is acting again) and Dominic Cooper. So if either of them are in it, I'll probably enjoy it. Oh, I'm a fan of Colin Firth though he reminds me a bit too much of an ex. The BBC Pride and Prejudice with him in it is definitely up in the top of my list.

Today I'm going to Taste of London in Regents Park (restaurants give you tastes of their food for £4-5). Tonight I'm going out with hockey teammates. Tomorrow I'm getting together for lunch with an alumnus of the school. Then no more plans.
QOTD: My fav is Pretty in Pink. It's fits so well with my experience in high school (without the cute boy at the end unfortunately).
Morning! Feeling pretty good today and the sun is shining! And it's Friday. This weekend we're having the Cologne GTG so I'm excited.
QOTD: Hmm, my favorite movie, as in the one I always watch when sick or feeling down, is probably You've Got Mail. It's always been there for me and while I know it really isn't a great movie, it's pretty near and dear to me.
As for the guy your friend is dating, I think it's odd, but not that odd. H's favorite 3 movies (that I've noticed he always wants to watch) are Trainspotting, Interview with a Vampire, and Notting Hill. Notting Hill is such a chick flick, but he loves it!
. Oh, I'm a fan of Colin Firth though he reminds me a bit too much of an ex. The BBC Pride and Prejudice with him in it is definitely up in the top of my list.
My eldest saved me €100 today by getting herself grounded from the end of year dance.
Popcorn.... have you seen "the shop around the corner"? It's the one "You got mail" is a remake from. (hello crappy grammar!) Worth checking out, it is really well done. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shop_Around_the_Corner
as for me... I have no favorite. There are so many good ones, and it depends on my mood that day which I like best.

Thanks everybody. I'm really allergic to mangoes. It's a weird allergy to have but they are in the same toxicodendron family as poison ivy. I'm not more reactive to poison ivy than normal, I get the same sucky rash as most people. Somehow I am more reactive to mangoes than poison ivy, I cannot have any contact with them whether on my skin or even by ingesting the tracest amount. I get all kinds of unpleasant effects depending on the nature of the exposure.
Yesterday, I was having ice cream at a place near SO's family's place. Mango is not very common in this part of the world. (It is now really common in DC and London, really trendy, and it is featured on the menus of many global cuisines including a lot that I like, so I have to vigilantly check ingredients and question anything that is randomly orange). Anyway, this parlor had mango as one of the flavors, but I ordered lemon ice cream. I should have thought that the ice cream scooper might be contaminated. While I was eating the ice cream, I started choking and it was off to the hospital for me. +o(
As for Colin Firth, yes, he is a great actor. I've also heard from friends that he is a really nice and down-to-earth person, not a typical celebrity. I missed out on the chance to meet him. While I was in university, they were filming Bridget Jones 2 nearby. A few of my friends skipped class to go to the set, but I like a dork insisted on going to my conversational French class instead. Well, my friends lucked out and got to meet the stars and get autographs. Apparently, Colin Firth was really warm and friendly to them. He is also a talented actor and I was really happy to see him win an Oscar for The King's Speech.

Wanderlista, You are the only other person I've ever "met" who is allergic to mango. Everyone always thinks it's a weird thing to be allergic to. I don't think I have such a severe reaction to it, though. Like you, I get really concerned with unidentified ingredients that could possibly be mangoes. I can't believe it's from a shared ice cream scoop. Pretty scary. Glad you are better.
I'm late to the party but this is the first time all day that I had a chance to log in! Off work today and had loads of plans - get N's last shot, cook batches of food for her, visit my friend who's home from Oz and her kids, enjoy time with N. All that got done was the cooking - nurse was sick, friend's daughter had runny nose so they cancelled, N was in rotten form and weather is wet and windy. DH has brought her to his parents to give me half hour of peace...
Tomorrow we have birthday party in am (brother of runny nose kid), visit other friends in the pm, dh playing cards with my brothers. Sunday there is something on but I can't remember right now... :-(

Wow, we're obscure allergy twins, hehe! I may have met someone else who was allergic but I don't think so or remember.
Mango has urushiol oil which is an allergen that only some people react to, but pistachios and cashews also have that and I don't react to them. I have no clue, my immune system is weird.
I have a couple of other obscure allergies too, bedbugs (learned that after staying in a youth hostel in Berlin in college sent me to the hospital and onto 3 weeks of meds) and I sometimes get "winter allergy" which is an allergic reaction to cold, dry air. That one is just annoying not dangerous.
I don't, however, get hay fever or have problems with cats, dogs, nuts, wheat, shellfish or other common allergies. I'm just an allergy weirdo.

It's super late for this, but I was in a conference all day. My plans for tomorrow are to get myself to Heathrow from Oxford, fly to Lisbon and try not to freak out with the temperature change. Then, Sunday, try to get my internet hooked up so I can get work done. Exciting, I know.
QOTD: This is a good question. I like a lot of films, though, so I will pick the latest one that I watched and enjoyed: Weekend.
Super late to the party... this week end I'm hoping for some sunny weather and finally go up on the roof to get a tan. The H and I should get around to run in CP, for a change.
QOTD: Contact is my all time favourite movie. Then come Forrest Gump and Gone with the Wind.
