In my experience, it was easier for me to just go cold turkey and cut out all sugar, full stop. It sucks at first, but after like 10 days or 2 weeks or so, the cravings magically disappear and all of a sudden it's easy to say no. It's almost eerie how a switch just flips in your brain like that. But If you keep letting yourself have a little bit of sugar every day to satisfy your cravings and take the edge off, you'll just keep craving it. Science.
I'm at the point now where I can splurge on a dessert occasionally (not even weekly, maybe once every other week) and the clock doesn't go back to zero.
Anyway, this isn't advice, it's definitely not the same for everybody, your experience may vary, etc. You know you. This is just my experience.
And thank you all for the compliments. (Blushing)
Good for you, I REALLY am trying to get my will power back that I had last year. Feels so good to work hard at something and see the results.
Also I must confess I saw your picture on ML yesterday....a few minutes later I went back and looked at it again. Sorry for being a creep.

It probably depends on the person. I tried to quit cold turkey and found myself eating more (and gaining five pounds) trying to fulfill my sugar cravings. If I just gave myself a little bit of sugar when I craved it and stopped, It went a lot better. But, I'm no role model, I am back to eating sugar 24/7. Whatever. I'm riding this metabolism train to early menopause!

Sugar makes me bloat, so I totally understand the not feeling great about your midsection comment. MP, if you want to share your sugar detox misery, I'm happy to do it with you.
