Maybe I should ask if there is such a thing as a non-stupid/annoying wedding shower game.... I'm co-hosting a shower this week and wasn't planning on having any games. But the other hostess bought "winner gifts" for each table so now I have to come up with 2 games. The vast majority of the guests don't know the bride at all so I don't really want to do a "how well do you know the bride" quiz thing since they'd all fail. Any ideas?
We did a word scramble at one that I threw, went over well and was just about the easiest thing ever. All the words that they hand to unscramble were wedding related. Plus: it is an individual game so no weird mingling required.
I went to one where there was a list of female animals in one column, and we had to come up with the name of the male mate (ex: doe/buck), and in the third column figure out the name of the animal (deer). Some of them were really hard.
It was fun because it didn't have to do with the bride but was still couple or "mate" related. People got to talking about the animals and told funny stories.
We also did the how well do you know the bride one - but there is an alternative that might work in your situation. You ask the groom questions and see how many answers the bride can get correctly. Guests guess the number the bride will get right. We did this at my shower and it was fun-ish.

I heard recently about purse bingo. As in you play a game with common object someone might have in their purse, and they have to pull the object out of their own purse to mark off the square. Cell phone, lipstick, sunglasses, tampon, gum, condom... etc
I sit in the "no such thing as a non-stupid wedding shower game", however, what about just doing a "birthday closest to the wedding date....closest to the bride's bday"...

Bingo is a good game - each square has a typical wedding gift on it (towel, plate, platter, wine glass, etc.) and you mark them off as the bride opens gifts. Whoever gets a bingo first wins.
I like it because it's optional for people to play and if they aren't interested they don't have to participate.

We did a game where my BFF had some pics of baby items on her IPad. She held the iPad up for everyone to see, and you had to write down the price you thought the items were.
Examples were: A can of Similac A medela pump A boppy A pack of bottles Gripe water A large pack of newborn diapers Etc.
Whoever got the most answers correct, that were closest to the right price won.
My family does one that's painless, but also not truly a game. They'll have a bunch of scratch off lottery tickets or Dunkin Donuts gift cards, and set an egg timer for random amounts of time while the bride is opening gifts. When the timer goes off, whoever gave the gift that the bride is opening at that tim receives a lottery ticket.

We did something similar... A bridesmaid asked mh ( fi) all kinds if couple and even non couple questions. Then guests asked me the question ( while the one bm was kinda like Alex TriBeC w all the right answers). If I got the answer right..I got the prize..if not, the guest got it... It was fun. I lost some good kitchen items.
I went to a baby shower once where the host put a present on the toilet seat for the first person that went to the bathroom. I guess it's a tradition in her family... I thought it was kind of funny and the woman that got the prize came out laughing with a little present. It wasn't a game...and it wasn't a group activity but it's a random way to give someone a gift. :-)
