I always wait about 3 business days before calling a potential employer. I leave a message or talk to someone and let them know that I am interested in the position and show some initiative. Sometimes, I keep calling. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, so to say.
My sister says that she spoke with someone at USF's Career Services and she said that you should never call to inquire about the job until after you have the interview.
What do you do? FWIW, she is in accounting, so I wonder if it different with accounting/cpa firms.
That's what I always thought! She has gotten a handful of interviews (one she declined bc her MIL set up the interview; if you knew their dynamic, you would do the same thing.)
I feel like she would get more she were persistent. At one employer, I did what that girls, did, Liz, I kept showing up. It's tough to find work out there for anyone, so you can't expect someone to call you just off your qualifications.

As a hiring manager, I'm not impressed by those who call. If a potential candidate got my email somehow and sent me their résumé I'd look at it, but persistent calling is viewed as annoying in my world.
