Has anyone made their own coffee creamer from that recipe thAt is floating around? It's sweetened condensed milk, milk, and various ad ins to make different flavours.
It would be cheaper for me than buying international delight - we host a bible study at our house and we go through a jug almost every week from that alone, plus I use it every morning.
I know sweetened condensed milk is crap too but I also think it's probably a little healthier than the chemical shit storm that is in international delight too.
Hmm..I've never tried that but I make my own all the time with whole milk, a couple tsp. of extract (vanilla, hazelnut, whatever you want..I have quite a few) and sugar (either white or brown depending).
It comes out good and I just common sense the recipe/do it to taste.
I also bought some coffee syrup a few weeks ago I just mix with milk. It's basically just flavored sugar...so still not great but better.
The dairy farmer in me cringes at store creamer...ha...tastes good though and I'm guilty of buying it everyonce in awhile. My store used to carry a really good all milk brand and now that don't.
I know it's total crap. My recipe is a can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 3/4 cups of milk. And then chocolate strip or vanilla extract or whatever you want for flavour - heat it with some of the milk to dissolve.
I am lactose intolerant and the creamer has cream as an ingredient but yet I can drink it and not get sick so that is scary. I am liking the idea of making my own too because I can use lactose free milk in it

There is actual cream in coffee creamer, usually in the form of whey protein (Which in the abbv. form is dried milk) which means the casein has been taken out of it, so that's why it doesn't bother you.
It's just not the main ingredient. Most brands also use soybean oil as a filler/to liquefy. So it's not that it's not "real" either it's just not milk. And a ton of corn syrup. Which as the crop farmer's daughter, I'm not entirely opposed to either.
It's more the fake sugar that gets to me in the creamers. And whatever they dump in it that it won't expire in 6 months..ha.
I've made it. I thought it was OK. The chemically fake stuff is better tasting IMO...lol. I also am lactose intolerant . I may make it again when I go through another make-your-own phase.

Wow dairy I wouldn't have expected you to even touch the creamer stuff!
peach could be that if lactose intolerance is your problem that the creamer / real cream wouldn't bother you because the lactose content is very low. Much lower than milk.
Or maybe you do have some issue with casein. dietician v. dairy farmer? lol
