Hey! I am about to go on vacation with 12-13 hr flights each way, so I am looking for new reads. I thought this would be good for others that are getting ready for summer vacations too. So, what is your favorite vacation read or what is on your list to read during vacation??

I don't generally alter my reading habits while on vacation, except I prefer to pack paperback books (yes, I still pack actual books). But for longer flights, I tend to save books I know I will enjoy and that will keep my attention. Also, I never take a book I may just have picked up because it looked interesting on vacation. I don't like to be stuck with a book I'm not into when I really need the distraction. I also never come home from vacation without at least 3 new books. And sometimes I can't wait to get those started.

I am not sure what type of books you are looking to read. I really loved Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins too. Michelle Moran has some great historical fictions. If you want something that is a roller coaster of emotions check out The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons.

I always throw in a few Agatha Christie mysteries for vacation. I'm planning to try again on The Lotus Eaters by Tatjana Soli -- it starts slowly and I keep getting impatient with it here at home. I think I'll really like it if I can get past the beginning, so it would be perfect for a plane ride or a lazy vacation day.
Well I loved The Hunger Games, Jackie Collins, chic-lit mainly. I love to read though so I want to broaden my selection of books. I downloaded some of the old James Patterson books- my mom said they were great. I was thinking about downloading The Fault In Our Stars , I am a John Green virgin and the Bride quartet by Nora roberts.
I started this thread because sometimes I save light, fun, mindless reading that is easy to get into and pass the time for my vacations, and this year I have just been speeding through every book and not planning ahead!
I know what you mean about lighter books for plane rides, especially such long ones. Some of the books that can hold my attention on the plane include
Dan Brown's books (e.g., The Da Vinci Code , but he's written several others) Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series Philipa Gregory's books, especially The Other Boelyn Girl Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon
If you're looking for something funny, I suggest Laurie Notaro's Idiot Girl books. She cracks me up! I especially love The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death. I'm saving Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened for my upcoming beach/camping trip because I've heard it's hilarious.
I have a 5 hour flight tomorrow, and I just checked out several books from the library for my nook. We're going to Vegas, and I decided that I don't want anything difficult to read, so I went with two books by the Gossip Girl author (embarrassing, I know), It Girl and Cum Laude, as well as 666 Park, 22 Britannia Road, Touch of Dead and Pretty in Plaid.
Usually I don't read this much fluff, but I've decided that thinking is optional while in Vegas
I just try to avoid books about the place I'm going while I'm there. I did that on my honeymoon ("In a Sunburned Country" while we were in Australia) and got all annoyed reading about cool places we weren't going to.
