folks...
My 4 year old nephew is having surgery today because of issues with his testicles. One of his testicles never dropped, and over the last year, his other testicle ended up going back up.
We've been told that he could have a slight decrease in fertility/sperm stuff, but otherwise the risks seem minimal.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of surgery? If so, has there been any long lasting issues?
My nephew had a testicle ascend when he was about 10ish due to getting hit in the groin with a baseball. (Who knew they could go back up?). He had the surgery and it was a piece of cake. We dropped some joke books off later the same day and he was moving around like it never happened. He's 16 now and he has never had another problem.

This is one of the things on my list of Things I Never Wanted to Know about My BIL.
He had this issue as a child, but his mom ignored it until he was older than your nephew (he was six or seven).
I only know this because my sister was talking about their TTC issues. She was pretty upset with her MIL for ignoring it for so many years because one of their doctors said it could be a contributing factor. They have managed to conceive naturally after years of trying and she is due next month.

Yeah, another 'wish I didn't know this' but apparently H's grandfather had this condition. He didn't have the surgery until the 1950s (during a hernia operation) but he went on to father 5 children.

My brother had this surgery 25 years ago and his wife is currently pregnant with their third baby. My mom was worried about this, and I think she even had my brother tell his wife (gf at the time) about possible complications conceiving down the road. However, it has not been an issue for him (them).
My husband had this as a child, and he remembers the surgery, so he was older than 4 when he had it (I think he was 6 or 7, but I'm not going to ask because he'd be mortified to know I'm putting this on the internet...).
It doesn't seem to have been particularly traumatic for him, and we had 2 kids with no issue.
