My FIL, probably not much. My SIL? Lots and lots and lots of charges. Lots. They're probably some real mental health problems between the two of them, above and beyond addiction.  But I'd love it if SIL got some real jail time and she might bc Florida works in a points system and she has, I assume, a great number of points. FIL won't since he hasn't been in much trouble, too bad.

They were bailed out by other family members. 

Cut off from what? Contact?  I don't know. I have minimal contact as it is, I've seen his sister maybe twice this year. His dad a little more but that'll stop. I can't stop my husband from seeing his dad, but fuck if I'm gonna waste my time on him.

Every crime is assigned points based on the degree and circumstances around the crime. The total number of points determines the punishment. Like if one has 44 points or more, it's automatic prison time. I don't know a whole lot about it since I've never committed a crime and have never worked in criminal law.
