My biggest beef with a lot of the tri tops is the white though. I have a black/neon swim top that I usually wear under my tri top (no built in bra), and that thing is freaking disgusting when I'm done from the swim. I can't even imagine how foul white would look.
Yeah I have a love/hate relationship with white tri gear. I like things that are white on the back because it's not as hot with the sun beating down, esp on the bike. But the lake ick is always a problem.
chitownbelle, yes, you wear it for the whole race. Under the wetsuit (or on its own for the swim if you are not a wetsuit wearer), and on the bike & run. For a full IM you might want to change into actual cycling shorts and running gear to be more comfortable, but for HIM and down that would take too much time.
explain to me the Tri clothing process.... this stuff is for the bike and run, right? Are you supposed to wear it under your wetsuit?
Yes. It is supposed to be quicker-drying and the shorts have a smaller pad. You can swim, bike, and run in the same clothes. If you are wearing a wetsuit, it goes on over the clothes.
I like the shorts but don't care for the top at all. The water around here is icky and that thing would be brown in a hot second.
That was my thought too. It sounds like this person knows what she's doing when it comes to clothing though (she even makes swimsuits!) so I'm curious if this is some miraculous fabric that won't stain or if it's just regular white.
