Anyone been to Hawaii in November? I know a lot of people from work go in May and August. I want to tie the trip into a holiday weekend to maximize our time. But we would have to be back for Thanksgiving. We could maybe do end if August into Labor Day. Just wondering what the most touristy times are.
I'm not even sure what island we would go to yet. I want part lounging in the sun, part adventure. What are your recommendations?

H and I went to Maui in 2011 for a week right around Thanksgiving time. The weather was basically perfect even though it was technically "rainy season." Only one or two days had showers but they were light and extremely short. The weather was a bit cool at night but still nothing at all cold compared to back east. My only "complaint" is that obviously it got dark very early but nothing you can do about that. Lots of Maui posts on blog (link in signature).
We went to Kauai last November on our honeymoon. A lot of beaches were off limits because the water was so rough, but there were several still available for swimming and we had a blast.
November is a lovely time of year. The waves may be coming in to the north shores by then, but there are still plenty of other beaches. Plus you might be lucky enough to see an early whale.
Actually, most of our inter-island travelling ends up happening in November, just b/c of my bday being a gov't holiday. We get a 4 day weekend and try to visit a new area each year.
