I watched part of it--it's one of those hidden camera shows and there was a fake waitress being mean to being mean to fake family with lesbian parents and restaurant patrons told her to knock it off.
I wish I hadn't watched those because those undercover shows make me SO uncomfortable. I don't watch them on TV.
I am not a fan either of people posting video without description.
It's John Q. WWYD. Short story is gay couple with kids and a waitress who is mistreating them. A man wrote the couple a nice note and the actress who is gay in real life was incredibly touched. People in the Texas restaurant were more likely to stand up for the couple than in a NY restaurant.
And I'll add I think the point of these shows is to make people uncomfortable. If people don't see how others can sometimes be treated, it's easier to ignore the fact that we still have issues.
As posted above, this WAS staged as part of John Quinones's show, WWYD? I think it showed true Texas -divided. Plenty of people would have been offended by the waitress's behavior. Some, because they totally support gay couples and families. Others, because even if they do not support gay couples, marriage and gays having kids, they do not think someone should be outright humiliated in public.
There is a huge culture of treating each other kindly and with dignity in Texas. And unfortunately there is sometimes turning around and talking behind someone's back. But most of the time treating people with courtesy and standing up for others is pretty common in the parts of Texas where i have lived.
And then unfortunately there are the people like the one guy in the video who gave the horrible waitress a thumbs up for what she did. Disgusting.
I like how Quinones pointed out that in his Texas example, significantly more people stood up for the gay couples than in NY when he did the same staging, where you expect more people to be open to gay parents with kids.
The loudest and most vocal in Texas may be ignorant bigoted asshats, but they give the majority of us a bad reputation.
I hate that clip only because I hate the assumption that Texans are bigoted assholes. We're not. The majority of us are not. Even in the rural, conservative parts.

But that is totally the point, to help people shed their pre-conceived notions about Texas.
