Put my first half in the books yesterday! I ran the Brewers Mini Marathon. Overall was a great race. Being my first half my main goal was to finish and I was shooting to be under 2:15. Both of which I accomplished finishing with a 2:05:17. <)
We really lucked out on weather. It started out in the high 50's and by the time we ended it was in the low 70's. The course started at Miller Park and than went through areas in downtown Milwaukee. I ran the first 4 miles with my friend (also her first!) and the rest by myself. With the staggering we started around the 2:30 pace group. It was nice to be able to see the pace group signs since I used those as motivation to get under the 2:15 and keep track of overall time. I passed the 2:15 around mile 10ish. Felt pretty good so continued to push myself to chase the 2:10 marker. I am really happy I saved putting my headphones on until mile 9 which was very motivating through the end miles & hills. Over all the course was pretty flat. There was one larger hill going up an on ramp and a gradual incline out of Miller Valley all after mile 11. Coolest parts of the course were running into Miller Valley (this is where the Miller Brewery tour is), running through Miller Park & being on the jumbo-tron screen and of course finishing!
Best signs seen on the course "Go Random Strangers Go", "Keep Running there are beer & strippers ahead" (there was a strip club at the top of the hill) & all the go daddy/mommy signs. One spectator I saw 5 times cheering with his cowbell, that was pretty awesome!
Very positive experience for my first half and I may already be planning for the next one

Great job! I just did my first half in March and I am hooked on running. And training for my first marathon, so far, my favorite distance is still the half. Your course sounds like so much fun, great job coming in way under your goal pace.
