we just got a Great Pyrenees puppy (she's almost 5 months old) and we're looking into getting insurance for her.
one that we are looking at is Healthy Paws. has anyone used them? experiences?
we are also looking at Embrace and Pet Plan.
one thing we want to make sure is covered is hereditary/congenital conditions since she is a purebred large breed dog. we were looking at Pet's Best, but their highest plan only covers like $1300 over the life of the policy for congenital problems, so we ruled them out.
what else should we look for? what is an absolute must?

I did some searching a few months ago for pet insurance and Healthy Paws would have been our choice if we hadn't gone broke shortly afterwards. They had great options for deductibles, no caps (which was important for our large breed dogs as well), had wonderful reviews on Facebook, and genuinely seemed like they cared when we spoke to them.
Look up their reviews (I only found one negative review back when I was searching and Healthy Paws responded saying that they were sorry they were unable to cover, but you (the owners) were told this was a pre existing condition upfront. Check on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram (their name is "gohealthypaws" and look under the other hashtags of healthypaws and healthypawspetinsurance). If people feel like they've been wronged, social media will let you know.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Also, any pictures of your new baby Pyrenees? They're the fluffiest, most adorable puppies ever.
I don't have any experience with them, but we considered Trupanion (more coverage than we ended up needing) and VPI (covers overseas as well as US) and went with VPI.
We haven't had any claims on VPI, but they've been easy to work with for signing up, moving and getting re-settled with a new vet.
