My H and I are traveling (for the first time) to NYC in a few weeks. We have many places we want to eat, but none that stand out as breakfast places. What recommendations do you have for breakfast? We're staying in Times Square, but can jump on the subway to head somewhere great.

All of the above are good suggestions; I particularly like Balthazar if you've never been, Locanda Verde, and Doughnut Plant.
Barney Greengrass on the UWS would be easy for you to get to from Times Square, especially if you plan to spend time either at Central Park or the Museum of Natural History. It's very reflective of NY.
If you're in soho, try to get to Dominique Ansel after the cronut herds have left for the kouign amann.
