Last Wedensday I was driving with a co-worker to a meeting when a teenager blew a red light and plowed into us. We were turning and he drove straight into the passenger side front axel, where I was sitting.
I'm okay, but I'm hurt fairly badly. Initially, I had some vaginal bleeding and labor symptoms but they were able to stop it. They aren't 100% sure what caused the bleeding, but 3:0 seems to be safely holed up inside still. Hopefully I am being discharged this morning on home bed rest. I'm in a fair amount of pain, so I don't mind hanging out in bed. I've weaned off the morphine and am trying to tough it out with Tylenol.
Keep me and 3.0 in your thoughts.
(My co-worker is basically fine. She wasn't admitted to the hospital, but has some neck/back pain.)
Also, it took me a really long time to write this, so hopefully it makes sense.

We don't need anything, luckily my mom lives next door and my sister is close too. Although a few funny stories and links my help past the time until I get out of here.
According to the on-call doctor yesterday they will only release me if I agree to go on bed rest at least until my follow-up appointment with my OB on Friday. Then it will be up to him. I'll know more once the doctor comes by today. My cervix has been closed, so I am feeling optimistic. I think the concern has been to make sure I get to 24 weeks. I feel lousy, but I think it's mostly general car accident pain than pregnancy issues. They have done a bunch of ultrasounds and 3.0 seems to be perfectly fine.
Honestly, I feel a little guilty like I was keeping a secret. I posted a little the day after, but didn't bring up the accident because I was scared of what may happen. We all know the reality of what can happen and I was scared to say it out loud. So instead I just went radio silent.

Thanks ladies!
It was a long day, but I'm home now. They thought about keeping me because my cervix is shorter than it was last week, but decided it was still within normal and I was going going to be on bed rest anyway.
My girls have been such troopers. G just wants to cuddle up and watch tv with me. J has been a great helper. I'm really very blessed.

Will this be considered workers comp? I'm sorry you are dealing with this.
It is my understanding it will be workers comp. I filled out paperwork at the hospital for a claim. It happened during the workday going to a work event. Just in case my work gives me any trouble I've been talking with my union lawyer. My supervisor made a couple of comments that made me uneasy, but he doesn't work in HR so his opinion doesn't really matter.
I'm more worried about how this will effect my maternity leave. My contract says I have to work at least 50% of the days scheduled in order for my job to be protected. It's mostly a provision so they can recoup benefits for people who don't come back, but I don't know what this means for me.

It should not effect your mat leave. It was a workers comp issue. Check with your union leader. You may want to consult an union/workers comp attorney.

Was the teen ok?
As far as I know, the teen only had minor injuries. Luckily because we were turning the impact forced our car to continue in the direction of the turn. The officer who took my statement thought he may have broken his wrist or arm.
