Try to think of it as "well it's obviously not a top priority for him." Hopefully he's not expecting crazy miracles. Deep breaths and ease back into it.
Unless he gives you crap, in which case, cutabitch.

What? Has he/she said anything about it to you? omg, poor you. I don't know what it is you do, can you take the next few days to not actually do anything but prioritize and delegate?
After coming back from a week's vacation, I NEVER want to go on maternity leave or anything longer than a week. My inbox hanging on the wall was full so people started piling paperwork and folders on the ground below it. *face palm*
Ugh this is my biggest fear about going out on leave next week. I just know I'm going to come back to a ton of shit no one knew what to do with and my boss is going to be having a fit.
Just take a deep breath and do one task at a time.

Ugh, I am so sorry. I returned last week and I'm still just trying to get my head in the game.
I hope you can work through it, but don't forget to take breaks for yourself. It's too easy to skip lunches or be super late to pump (if that's what you are doing) but that will only hurt you in the long run.
triage. if it didn't HAVE to be done your entire leave, it doesn't HAVE to be done today either. organize and make lists and the scarlett o'hara the rest of that shit until later this week.

She didn't do major reports, she let a lot of our facilities fall into noncompliance, and I'm guaranteed to get tore a new asshole by the EPA and BLM for a long time for a medley of fucks
Is there someone you can escalate this to? Like a meeting with her and her boss framed as a heads up, we're non-compliant and it's going to be bad. And here's what I need ( resources) to get back in compliance?
At the very least to put it out there that thus was not you who created the mess
That's f'd up and I can relate. Not only did my boss not enlist ANYONE to do my job while I was out, but he brought me a laptop after I had my second. No cookies. No card. A fuckin laptop to work on.
I love my job to death but this made me ragey. For the record, I never turned it on and worked after he gave it to me TYVM.
I'm so sorry. I cannot even imagine how you are feeling right now. I would be more than livid if I had come back to none of my work being done after 12 weeks.

I am so pissed for you. Count me as another one who hates coming back after a week and dealing with the fires that come from that, I can't imagine 12 weeks of that.
This happened to me when I was on leave with DD. Actually, my boss did minimal work...and what she did do she screwed up ROYALLY. Like, burned bridges, upset clients. It was such a shitshow.

WTF.
How awful. This isn't your fault so just do what you can do. Can you tell your boss(es) that you may need backup to help get things up and running in a timely manner?

You need to document this to higher-ups because a boss that's shitty enough to do this, could be shitty enough to point fingers and blame you, and all of a sudden your job and/or promotions/etc are in jeopardy.
This sounds like something that would have happened at my previous place of employment. I actually was fired because my boss let everything slide so badly and then told me to fix it. When I couldn't do it in time, he fired me. Of course, he was fired by the owners of the company a few months later because he was obviously incompetent. But that didn't help me any.
Her higher up is the VP, so I'll probably talk to him under the guise of asking questions to make sure I'm fixing the situation correctly. He's extremely complimentary of my work and knows that I'm efficient.
I'm irritated, but at the same time, I plan on leaving when O is about one, so I really only need a short term end game here. I just need to document and cover my ass.
