Holy crap. I stayed awake until 6h30 this morning because H and I joined up a friend of mine and we went to a gay karaoke bar. I have not stayed out this late for years! So much fun But now it is 13h and I feel like I've been hit by a train and we have plans this afternoon. Time for a kebab. mmmmmmmm.....
How is your weekend going?
QOTD: What is your hangover/lack of sleep food of choice?

Good morning! The weekend is not terrible, though I feel I wasted Saturday. DH had a seminar in Melbourne on Friday and I went up with him. We had planned to have an afternoon in the city followed by dinner at a Belgian Beer Garden, but when he stopped by the station to check on the bus home, we found out that all services had been cancelled due flooding and subsequently closed roads. We were stuck in the city until at least noon on Saturday. We decided to take the first available room we came to and just crash. Having no other clothes or toiletries, we didn't really sleep well, and the hotel didn't provide anything but soap and shampoo in the bathroom (no comb) or hair dryer, and there wasn't an extra blanket for the bed and it was COLD in the room. Needless to say neither one of us were refreshed when we headed to the station to get info on the bus home this morning. The bus was running, but there was a detour that added 90 minutes to the scheduled time, better than being routed over 100K out of our way with no possibility of getting back home. And the bus was leaving at 11, not noon. Good thing we arrived early for information. We caught the 11 bus and made it home about 3, after the driver failed to stop at our stop (it was a local, stopping all stations bus, only it didn't) so instead of picking up our car at the lot, we had to walk home and then DH had to walk back to the car (in the rain!) and drive home. It was an adventure to say the least. He was sweet and let me stay home rather than going with him to get the car.
QOTD: I'm not usually hungry when I am tried from lack of sleep. And the last time I was hung over I swore was the last time I'd be hung over and that was my 21st birthday. But I can tell you that painting dorm rooms is not a good idea when you are hung over. Just trust me. And paint cans should not be mistaken for buckets.
Good morning! I'm feeling a bit down since I have absolutely NO desire to study and I'm having a hell of a time trying to write decent academic papers in Spanish. DH and I have plans to go out tonight since it's "San Juan" and they'll be having a bonfire downtown to celebrate the arrival of summer. We'll see how it goes.
QOTD: A big friggin' plate of poutine or a trip to the Big Stop truck stop to have a ceasar salad roll with spicy waffle fries and a milkshake. I miss university life! Here in Spain, it would be a kebab.
Sounds like fun! I haven't done that in quite some time either. Today we are just hanging out at home and I'm starting to feel queasy off and on. Blech.
QOTD: My hangover food of choice is a a McDonald's cheeseburger with fries. So good! For some reason greasy food really hits the spot when hungover.
Good morning! I just got back from brunch and logged on quickly to check on news from a babysitter. I think we're finally going out on a date this week! Just before we go on our big 10th wedding anniversary trip with DD in tow (she wasn't originally supposed to come along).
Myblue, for a great hangover burger with fried egg on top, get yourself to Cafe Central on Rue du Cler (7th arr.). Mmmmmm! Any burger/egg concoction is my hangover food of choice.
Living in my furniture-less house... on the upside, cleaning's a breeze! We just ran some errands today and I locked in a couple more places to see on vacation (we leave this Thursday !
As for hangovers-- Thank you Baby Jesus, I've never suffered the way I deserve to.... really, only one hangover in my life. It made me understand why people contemplate never drinking again. Anyway, even though I'm not a big hangover person, I do get the occasional off-feeling (puking on runs the next morning, etc)--- horrible fried chicken (ok, I admit it, Popeyes) and fruit-punch (aka 'red') favored powerade. GL and feel better! Glad you did have a fun night though... I love gay karaoke... that's actually how H and I started dating (no, really).
H works on Saturdays. So I've been having a low key day. I am going to make M&M'S cookies soon.
I'm suppose to go to the grocery store. But I have no will to go. Hoping I can con H to stop at Walmart express on his way home.
Tonight we are meeting a coworker of H's at the Tiny Lounge for drinks.
QOTD: I don't drink and I've never had a hangover. But I've dealt with tons of no sleep. I need a diet coke for the first hour and then I will eat some dry cereal after that.
I actually didn't drink too much and have just been dealing with the complete lack of sleep! Sadly, both lack of sleep and hangovers have about the same effect on my body :/ I'm going to bed now
About Saturday, mine was mostly not that great. There were 3 key themes, dealing with the allergy (with further treatment), unnecessary family drama on my side (not worth going into), and unexciting prep stuff for Egypt).
Sunday should be more relaxing, at least, I am feeling a bit better and we plan to go swimming again.
QOTD: I never get hung over these days and if I'm lacking in sleep, I'm normally not that hungry. In college, I would eat apples when hungover, somehow starchy foods settled my stomach. I would eat something like fries for that reason. I also liked greasy food for that, like omelettes with cheese, mushroom, onion and maybe bacon.
These days, if I'm feeling rundown, I'll probably have a lovely fruity herbal tea.
