Anyone signing up for the Pittsburgh Marathon/Half?

Registration opened this morning.  I'm signing up now before I chicken out.  This is pretty much why & how I started running.  I was always in awe of my coworkers and friends that run the race.  This will be my second Half and first time training in the winter months.  Yikes!!  Looking forward to it though, should be fun and challenging!  

Anyone else in?  I know a few ladies from the board ran it earlier this year.

99% sure I'll be signing up. I have my first half this Sunday so I'll probably sign up after that, barring any catastrophic events.

I trained with a few friends who ran it last year (I'd drop out someplace between 5-7 miles) and I liked running in the cold much better than the heat!

OMG!!  It's finally here!  Are you so excited/nervous?  I'll tell you what everyone else told me but I didn't believe until the Half.  Believe in your training!  Seriously, it'll all just come natural to you and you'll kick so much butt out there!  Good luck and can't wait to hear all about it!  

Oh and definitely sign up for the Pgh Half!!

I probably will but I like to wait till January to sign up. Pittsburgh was my first half in 2012 and I also ran it in 2013--it is such a fun race!!

How much is it if you sign up for the half today?

It's $75 today, not sure when it'll go up.

Oh, I would LOVE to, especially after how awesome the Great Race was. Now I need to decide between that and the Frederick Half, which is the same day!

Nervous but I've been fighting a shin splint/possible stress fracture in my right leg and haven't been able to finish my last two weeks of training. My last two long runs were fantastic and I've been doing a lot of cross training to compensate. I've been icing religiously and it feels tons better than it did. But now I'm getting over a cold and just came down with a stomach bug today!!!! At this point, I'm just really aiming to finish even if it involves crawling.

If anything, I get a weekend away with my husband sans kids.

I have recruited one of my bff, her partner, and my SIL to run the marathon as a relay team. I have to see if everyone is still in. I think it would be such a fun experience, not have the pressure of training for the half in the winter months, and see a great city.

The Cleveland Rock n Roll Half. Cleveland is nice and flat, and obviously I train on hills, so I'll have that going in my favor! My training partner is running too, so I'll have support.

I'm just kind of scared of the whole thing, not sure I like running enough to really commit to a half. I don't want to give up everything else to do it... but I really want to run a half. Does that make any sense?

Yes, tots!  I understand what you mean completely.  I signed up now because I told myself it's still months away!  Come talk to me in Feb. when I'm stuck running on a treadmill b/c it's snowing outside.  

In all honesty, I live in the area and work in downtown Pgh.  The city embraces the race and the runners, I am so happy to be able to take part in it next year.  I think it'll be an awesome time!
