Does someone have a meatloaf recipe for me?

Exchange student asked if I'd make him one (apparently it's the "American" thing to have! Ha.).

It's not something I ever make and the one time I did it wasn't that good. I usually do meatballs or the mini ones in muffin tins.

Recipes? Things you add? I know the basics I'm just trying to make it better.

I prefer ground beef but I can swap that out in a recipe so it doesn't matter too much.

1lb ground hamburger
1/2 cup diced onions
2 eggs beaten
1 cup ketchup
2 cup crushed saltine crackers
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup milk

Mix together with your hands. Form into a loaf, place into bread pan. Squeeze ketchup over top. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

I just throw in an egg, breadcrumbs, a packet of onion soup mix, some BBQ sauce and Worcestershire

What makes a meatloaf good is the topping. I mix ketchup and brown sugar and spread that on top. Mmmmm

Shredded cheese is nice to mix in too but just a little or it just adds grease

My moms is
1lb ground beef
1/2 lb breakfast sausage (bob evans tube)
2 slice bread broke up
1 egg
onion
about 1/2 a diced green pepper
salt pepper
1 16 oz can of tomato sauce

mix everything together leave out 1/4 of the can of tomato sauce bake for 1 hr. Last half hour pour rest on top bake rest of the way. I make it in a 9x11 and suck the grease out of the pan a few times. My Mom always used the dried onions so just your best guess for how much fresh.

I used to make the one from America's Test Kitchen all the time, and it's pretty delicious...but I found this other one on All Recipes and it's really quite yummy, so I pretty much only make this one anymore:

You will laugh but i use ground beef an egg and a meatloaf seasoning mix from mccormick and its great. No breadcrumbs no ketchup just basic meatloaf and it's good i swear lol
