Have ya'll seen this? Because once a role has been touched by Tennant, no one else can even be considered. (:whispers: Except Matt Smith. Matt Smith is obviously better. :ducks from flying tomatoes:)
Fox is thinking inside the box when it comes to casting its adaptation of the UK murder mystery Broadchurch.
David Tennant, who currently stars in BBC America’s Broadchurch, has been tapped to headline the U.S. remake as well, TVLine has confirmed.
The Doctor Who vet’s lead investigator character will be virtually identical to his UK counterpart, although he’ll use an American accent, TV Guide Magazine reports.
The British Broadchurch just wrapped its first season and will soon begin production on a second. Meanwhile, the American Broadchurch — which is being billed as a limited series a la Fox’s upcoming 24: Live Another Day — is expected to start shooting in early 2014.

It seems like such a waste to convert it to an American show. I think this has disaster written all over it. Broadchurch was/is the right combination of writing/casting/etc that I worry converting it is going to make it crap. I hope I"m wrong. But most US adaptations of UK shows do not go well ( That The Office did as well as it did for so long is an exception, I think). Add to that, Tennant's "American accent" is...not great. I don't know if it's a goal of these UK actors ( like Cumberbatch, Hiddleston, Matt Smith, etc) to "make it" here. If that's what he's trying to do (beyond the Who fandom), I don't know that this is the way to go about it.
Also? Dude, take some time off and be with your family. Since 2012 the following have been released or are in the process. I assume some of these were filmed in 2011, but still. That's a lot of stuff: voice work, Broadchurch, Richard II, Escape Artist, Spies of Warsaw, Politician's Husband, Nativity 2, the Who 50th and has a movie in post production. And now he's talking about coming here to film in 2014.
