I just got a summons today...I would actually love to do jury duty b/c I'm a nerd like that...but there's no way I'm going to be able to find temporary full time childcare for a toddler and infant. Plus, I'm still exclusively breastfeeding (except for the occasional night out or errand run w/o the baby). This should be enough of a hardship right?
I got out of jury duty for the exact same reasons. I wrote a letter stating that I was the primary childcare for my children and was breastfeeding several times a day (all of which was true at the time). They excused me and I never heard another thing about it.

Laws vary by state. In PA, there is no law requiring breastfeeding mothers to be excused from jury duty, though I've heard most judges here will excuse them anyway.

If the googles is to be believed, you may or may not. It doesn't look like Maryland has a law exempting breastfeeding mothers or allowing them to defer.
