Depends on the kids' ages but I'd prefer they play real games rather than video ones. Generally that's what they do at my house. Generally. I've tossed in a movie if it's a looooooong playdate and they've run out of ideas and/or destroyed the house or there are like, nine of them (eg my Girl Scout troops when we have parent meetings) and I wouldn't kill someone else who handled their playdates with electronics because that would be hypocritical on my part.
I think it depends, my kid and his buddies sometimes get into playing on the xbox kinect when they do playdates. Plus I think skylanders are a big thing with school aged boys and I could see that being the subject of a playdate.
