My next costume is going to be an elaborate WoW costume...planning on working on it a little all year and having it ready for DragonCon. So I started with a small piece, Orca Hide Boots.
I started out with these. I took the straps off, sewed on a cuff, folded and sewed the excess fabric along the bend in my ankle to eliminate the slouchy look, sewed on the green velvet and brown suede on the sides/top of foot, then painted it and glued the leaves on the cuff. Well, I'm not done with the leaves yet, but I was finally able to take a picture of one of them
The crazy part is, you'll barely be able to see the boots under my skirt, but I wanted to do something that felt authentic from head to toe Oh and I swear the green velvet doesn't look as blue IRL!
I have a couple of friends who used those, they have a headband type strap, and then used spirt glue too. They looked really good, and they were really easy to paint, if your a colored night elf.
