I want to try to start meal planning to go along with my eating healthier, but I work shifts (retail.) So some nights I am not home until 10pm or later if I go to the gym. Do any of you meal plan and work around shifts? What do you do? Advice appreciated! Also, how to get started on meal planning, I just don't know whereto begin.

DH works weird shifts. I usually make ahead leftovers for him or easy meals. I try to do as much prep as possible ahead of time. When he works really late 10+, he usually packs a dinner with him and eats on his break. He usually gets a snack when he gets home.

I usually try to plan around my shifts. If I know I am closing on Tuesday and Thursday I cook on Monday and Wednesday and eat leftovers on the days that I work. I also eat around the shift, maybe half my dinner before and half after (otherwise I get too hungry). If you work full days at night you could have your bigger meal for lunch and just take sandwiches or salads actually at work.
I work night shifts 3 or 4 nights a week (7 pm to 7 am). I often cook on my days off and my husband eats leftovers when I am working. I make sandwiches or bring leftovers for lunch to eat during my shifts.
