Whatever you get, I'd make sure the container says it is made in a nut-free facility. If you were to go for something like a tree nut butter, for example, there would be a decent chance of cross-contamination because a lot of facilities that make tree nut butter also make peanut butter.
I think we've talked about this before, but I have shed tears over how good the chocolate hazelnut butter is from Justin's. My H got me a jar for my birthday last year and it was gone in three days.
I don't have an answer to this, but I do have a question about your city! Let's just say I was seeing a show at Festival Pier, and I wanted to eat before Tame Impala comes out. Where would you recommend I do that? I've heard the food at the venue sucks hard.
If you aren't sure if she's just peanut free vs peanut/nut free, go with sunbutter. It may or may not be processed in a facility with nuts but if the child with the allergy isn't eating it herself, it should be fine unless her allergy is very severe.
Peanuts are a legume, not a nut. I have a nut allergy, but I can eat peanuts fine.
My husband has a legume allergy but eats almonds and cashews just fine.
Interesting. Great to know.
Either way, DD's school has only allowed sunflower seed butter and soy butter so far. She has a child in her class with a severe peanut allergy, so I'm always so nervous of sending anything that could harm that poor kiddo.
