I am a newbie (within the past year) runner, doing my first half in 1.5 weeks. I am basically obsessed with it now, and want to sign up for all of the races. I'm not really sure how much time I should be taking in between races, though, to let my body heal. Complicating factor is that we will start TTC #2 in April, and I kind of want to do as much as possible before then, in case I'm sick as a dog like last time.
So far, I've got: 10/19 - half 11/10 - 10 mi 12/8 - ~7 (CIM relay)
I want to do: 2/2 - 10k 2/9 - half 3/16 - half 7/20 - half
The easy one to cut out is the 10k in February. My current training plan calls for 6 the weekend before the half, but I realize that doing 6 is different from 6 at race pace.

I think your current schedule is OK. Starting in the spring I run at least one shorter distance race a month. Just listen to your body if its tired or, give yourself time to recover.
Also I am going through fertility treatments so its possible to continue to run while TTC, just throws some kinks in when I go to register for marathons 9 months in advance.
Thanks! I think I'd be okay being in constant training mode, especially because at this point I'm not taking it so seriously that I let it detail my life. The training plan was not much different from what I was already doing.
So 5-6 weeks in between halfs sounds okay? I recall seeing people with signatures showing a big race every month, so I know people do it, just wondering.

I think you could certainly do that many races, but I'd wait to sign up for the July one till you have a few more races under your belt. Wait, I take that back, I don't know where you live, but a half in July sounds like a bad idea to me I only sign up for super big races with lotteries that far in advance in case some of the "OMG, I love racing!!!" wears off.
And for the record my calendar for the fall includes the following. 5 5Ks 1 10 miler 2 half marathons
I just signed up for 2 of the 5Ks and am still haven't signed up for one of them.
Thanks! That's a good point. The July race looks really cool - you run from Napa to Sonoma. I'm sure I could get someone to buy my bib if I decided I couldn't do it.
I'll probably register for that one, but the others don't require registration so far in advance.
And thanks for sharing your schedule; that's helpful.

It looks fine to me. You have been running a little longer than I have, but your schedule looks really similar to my race mine. I like to do one race a month because I'm more diligent about getting my runs in if I have something coming up.
