At her age/weight, I'd probably be ok with using a high back booster for occasional use in grandma and grandpa's car. The bonus to this is that it doesn't have to be installed, so you know it'll be used correctly by them. The Graco TurboBooster is great.
EmilieMadison jumping in, we are considering getting a seat for DH's car but want it to be budget friendly since I sah and do 95% of driving DD around. It would be for occasional my car is getting the oil changed or DH needs it for whatever reason. she's 3 yrs, 37.5 inches and 30 lbs (she just had a huge growth spurt so I expect her weight to jump up soon if that matters) thanks
While DS (5) is still harnessed in Frontiers in DH's and my cars, we use a Graco Turbobooster for vacation, if we need a spare seat (his BFF is smaller so I put him in the car seat), or if we need to get two adults in the backseat. I like the seat and it is easy to use.

I'd look into getting the Evenflo Maestro or Evenflo SecureKid, which are FF only harnessed seats. HTH!

We have Maestros for DD1 in the grandparents' cars and they are nice. She can't buckle and unbuckle herself (which she can in the Britax Fronter 85 in my car, thank goodness). But the Maestro is a good, solid, comfy seat.
What about a 3.5 year old who is 47 inches tall and 54 lbs? We are getting close to outgrowing all our car seats.... But would prefer not to spend 300+ on a another mega britax because even her britax is on its last height shoulder adjustment.
WE have the Graco Argos, similar to the Nautilus, and C loves it. It has a five point harness, but can become a regular high back booster and then just plain booster.

Wow, she's the size of an average 7 year old. I'm guessing the Britax seats you have now are convertible seats, which is why she's maxing out on the harness height. She should still be harnessed for another 2+ years, and there are plenty of FF only harnessed seats that will work for that and then become boosters. The Britax Frontier 90 will accommodate her until 90 lbs in the harness (and has much higher shoulder slots than a convertible seat). I also love the Recaro ProSport, which also harnesses to 90 lbs. You'll spend close to $300 but you'll be using them for many years to come.
