I've been dealing with some major calf and Achilles tightness over the past week. I got a deep massage and it helped, but then I went out and ran 22 miles yesterday, so that didn't help. I'm starting my taper next week, thank goodness.
I already bagged the 4 miles I was supposed to run today, because my entire left side felt really tight. I just warmed up and then did some stretching. I'm planning to do yoga tomorrow, no running.
The big question is next week. Should I attempt to do the mileage on my training plan, or should I scale back? If I scale back, by how much?
I'd make a game time decision on a daily basis, if you are feeling better pick the training back up, if you are still sore rest up a little. No need to push it too hard the last couple of weeks.
Probably. But that would be zero running not reduced mileage. The primary goal now is to stay healthy. So I'd do what I needed to do to make that happen.
You're doing pfitz, right? I found the last three weeks to be too much. So I scaled back some of the longer runs and also did tempo runs instead of intervals. As far as whether it was too little mileage, I'll get back to you on Columbus Day about that.

Yes, I'm doing Pfitz. 44 miles next week seems like a bit much. I ended up doing "only" 51 this week, since I didn't complete today's 4-miler. I was thinking of scaling down to around 40 miles next week.

And OMFG why is it 90 degrees??
I know, right? I was just yelling about that while admitting defeat and turning the ac back on
