The basic premise is a virus causes pregnant women to get mad cow disease and die (along with their babies) effectively causing the end of society, unless they can figure out how to keep the population going. Jessie's father works at a clinic trying to solve this problem, and the book focuses on Jessie's experiences during this troubled time.
I read the book because I found the premise compelling, but the story fell flat for me. This is what I was reading when I was asking for recommendations of books with likable characters. All of the characters in this book are extremely self-centered, and I really can't stand books who center around know-it-all, bratty teenagers who won't listen to reason from anyone, including their friends in this case. (I'm looking at you Holden Caulfield!)
Interesting premise. Thanks for sharing your review. Unfortunately I don't know if I'll read it. I hate when there are alot of self centered characters.
