Not sure if it'll follow in the link, but I unchecked everything but "fire" and "smoke/ash." The red blobs (not circles) by each flame icon are how large the fire is... the one farthest north flared up into the weekend and is now over 80,000 acres.
wildfire makes me feel sick. Other disasters are over in a day or two and people can pick up the pieces, but wildfire just goes on and on.
And you follow it for weeks at a time feeling safe because it's miles or counties away, and then one day the wind shifts and BAM you're in the car with your loved ones and possessions not knowing what you'll come home to when you come home. How terrifying.
Thoughts and prayers to all that are in harm's way.

It's going to be a long summer.... I don't think I've ever wanted a cool rainy day so bad.
I know a lot of people who are going to be affected by the fire in Manitou if it grows any bigger. : ( So scary that they had to evacuate the entire town!
I'm in Colorado Springs. It's getting very close to homes now and spreading rapidly. The firefighters are stretched so thin with all the fires in the state. I'm just praying for a freak monsoon.

We had the Monument wildfire last year in Arizona. Take this time to get organized in your house and know what you want to take with you. Photograph your items in case anything happens to your house and you need to file a claim with insurance.
Fortunately I'm located in Denver which, to-date, hasn't had any massive fires approaching. But friends & family are closer to the fires and I'm hoping they stay aware of the danger and are able to get out safely if it comes to that.
It's raining just a bit right now. I'm about ten miles from the high park fire. It's also lightning like crazy and has been over 100 for three days (and three more coming). :/
I HATE wildfires. We get them so often in So Cal, and they scare the shit out of me. In 2007 we were evacuated out of our apartment due to a wild fire that burned right up to the apartment parking lot. It SUCKED.
How is your area? I know there was a fire near your house recently.
It's the big fire DP mentioned that jumped containment this weekend. Fortunately, they worked hard to keep the fire from spreading into town. I don't think we'll be hit with it. All we're getting is major smoke and ash from the fire at the moment.
The fire south is the one that will probably hit the most homes if they can't get it contained.

Stay safe! I hate the ashy air when there are fires. We had a fire last 2 months last summer, and it felt like we were prisoners inside because the air quality was so poor. Hoping for big rain!
