We went to see 2 houses today with our realtor and we're chit chatting after we get done with the second and we're discussing our open house that's next sunday and considering dropping our price so we can hit a new range of people looking. He says to us "remember that first showing?" Apparently the wife wanted to buy our house on the spot. The husband was wanting something he could fix up. They slept on it and bought a house half the price that needed a LOT of work (duh, for $35,000, it would probably need gutted).
I went :-( and then wished I could have a :drink: . Oh well. Here's hoping the newspaper/realtor.com don't get our open house mixed up next weekend and we can get some more lookers! We had 3 last time and there was only street signs, no advertising.
DH wanted our house because it needed work...only now that we have it my DAD has done the vast majority of the work because DH is either too busy with work or just plain doesn't want to do some of the projects (like painting the outside trim).
I told DH that the next house needs to be DONE when we move in or I'm divorcing him rather than moving!
I guess you can take it as a compliment to your good taste and hard work that he wanted a different house. I hope you get a good offer soon!

Right? Guh! But I guess I can't blame him for wanting a challenge?
We basically want something move-in ready and so far, we haven't found it. I've found one that I like that has a few things it needs, but nothing that needs it immediately. I just want to move so we can get DS enrolled in THE school and we can get settled in before the baby!

I KNOW!!!! But he said that it made him very optimistic because they saw 3 houses that night and they didn't end up with any of them, but ours was the one that they had to sleep on.
We have an open house next weekend and he told us to consider if we wanted to drop the price into the next range lower ($65,000) to open it up to first-time buyers in a lower range. We bought it for $67,500 6 years ago, so I'm not really WANTING to lower the price (we couldn't go much lower than that), but we would negotiate down from where we are at now at $68,000 to that point.

Oh so its about him now? I hate people who are considerate of their own clients feelings! He can go F himself with optimism! Ugh, I am annoyed for you and its not even my house!
Oh and don't lower it! If that buyer was ready to buy on the spot means its good enough for any other buyer too! Give it some time, unless you really really HAVE to sell in next two weeks!

Haha we trust his opinion re: optimism. The feedback we got from our open house was all positive (two of the three who came through loved it and are interested, but have other factors holding them back -- one a house to sell and the other is divorcing). And since we've not found "the house," we aren't dropping our price. If we got an offer, then we have a back up plan (apartment complex approximately the same size as our house for a little less than our mortgage now), but we aren't in a rush now. We'd like to move into the school district we want in before August, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't get there.
My DH likes to re-make the house(s) to suit his (our) taste/standards/layout etc - not necessarily those of the seller. Location is #1, then quality of basic structure, sq ft, . The rest is up for a re-do.
