The "boo" is that I spoke with the woman who interviewed me for an ED position with a state affiliate of her org (I obvs didn't get the job, but was flattered to get the interview) about her thoughts on my qualifications for her position, only for a different regional (she's a regional field manager). Her response was friendly, though less than enthusiastic, and definitely left the impression that applying would be a waste of time.
On the advice front, I've submitted an app for a position at another org (org2), and a friend at org1 has arranged an information interview for someone who works at org2, but sits on the board of org1.
Any thoughts on how I should approach this informational interview, given that I've just submitted an application for an open position there?
HR peeps, I'm particularly interested in your insights, though all others are welcome.
Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. I don't know if Ann told you, but I recently applied for the [position] with Org 2. If meeting with me informally now would cause problems with [HR/hiring protocol/etc] at Org 2, I understand if you prefer to reschedule for a later date. Either way, I am looking forward to meeting you and learning more about the work of Org2 and your thoughts on [___industry/movement/field/new law/new industry development/certain article or conference or some other more general topic to indicate you aren't just looking for a job with her but want to talk about the larger context and/or potential opportunities elsewhere].

You = awesome, ESF.
This is kind of the advice I was seeing around online because I was feeling weird about it since I'd applied.
