we are thinking of heading over to Cannon Beach on Saturday morning and I was trying to figure out if we'd have time to stop at a few wineries on the way back into Portland. Willamette Valley. and if so, any recommendations (or what area would be best to stop at)?
Thanks!
mrsstreet - I think we're going to do what you recommended below and hopefully combined with some wineries!
Coast- it's about 1 1/2 hours from Portland to Cannon Beach. We drove out and spent the day walking the coast and hiking in Ecola State Park. Gorgeous views! Cannon Beach is a cute little town with lots of art galleries and cute shops, though many are tourist shops. Haystack Rock is right there at Cannon Beach
Great! We really appreciated the beauty of the Pacific Coast. It was so different from our experiences in Florida and the Caribbean! We didn't stop at the wineries so I'm no help there! Have fun!

Also if you plan to go down to Tillamook, there is a winery just off the road there called Nehalem Bay winery.
The people there are super friendly and they have free tastings. And for lunch there is a place in a tiny town called Wheeler, the restaurant is called Rising Star Cafe and they only have 5 tables and the husband cooks while the wife serves. No cc payments accepted. But the food is amazing and they are so friendly, we always stop there when we are at the coast.
In Tillamook the cheese factory is always a great stop and the Blue Heron wine and cheese shop is also cute.
