Fuck them so much. I'm starting to freak out. I'm having trouble sleeping, I'm watching CNN and reading news stories online obsessively all day long. I need to be working. I need to get paid.
Sorry Bernadine. I'm worried for what will happen if they don't raise the debt ceiling, but at the same time not raising the debt ceiling will cause a lot more than an inconvenience for people who haven't been affected. Maybe it will shock them into calling for republicans to STFU.

No, I definitely agree, they need to raise the debt ceiling, so at least there's a chance they'll do that.
I just don't understand where they think they're going to go with this. No one's going to blink. I'm hoping that the rumblings of dissent among the House republicans become something with some force, because they are (in my obviously biased opinion) really in the wrong here. I get it, they don't like the ACA. Fine, they can have their opinion, they can represent what they feel is their constituents' position. But for the love of God, refusing to do your job because you don't like one law is NOT how the government is supposed to work.

I know the feeling.
My DH gets disability payments AND works for the VA. Just yesterday we find out that if this keeps up, they won't pay the November benefits. THEN he tells me that he's not sure if the Vet Centers are still 'safe' (for right now they are, but there's a possibility that they'll be cut). And then he tells me 'it's ok though, because we'll get back pay'... um no, you don't know that for sure AND no creditor/utility company etc is going to take that instead of payment.
The worst part is that I have to take a mandatory 90day break from my job as a contractor (corporate policy) starting in Dec. We will have NO $$ if this keeps up.
This all sucks so bad. I filed for unemployment earlier this week, as a contractor I will not get paid retroactively like govvies most likely will. I heard a woman on the news saying she was selling her bedroom furniture on Craigslist and had already had to choose between rent and electricity so she was going to be getting a shut off notice for the electricity. I need to pull a resume together today and start seriously looking for a job even though I like the job I already have!!
So frustrating, I have no vacation leave left after maternity leave (I was back at work for 3 days!!) so all of this is unpaid for me. And I want to kick my friend who has a month of vacation hours to use and is out doing all kinds of fun activities. She doesn't mean to be insensitive, but it's really getting on my nerves.

I can't wrap my head around this. The ACA is implemented in stages which if I recall started in 2010. What are they trying to prevent? Tell me its not the exchanges because if this is the case I want everyone trying to hold this up in Congress to personally have to tell people they cannot have the insurance they were counting on. Since I am feeling kind I will allow them one security officer a piece.
Republicans. You lost. That sucks for you. Nobody likes to lose. This does not mean you get to have a tantrum. Obamacare is happening. Deal with it. In fact, if it's so awful, why not let it happen, then everyone will see what a miserable failure it is, and it will be easier to repeal. (And win the election next time) I think they're afraid it will actually work, and then they'll look stupid (well, stupider. They already look stupid.) Here's an idea- if you don't like birth control, don't use it. If you don't like abortion, don't have one. Otherwise, shut up and quit acting like a goddamn three year old.
Yes. and if I see one more person blame Obama I might set my hair on fire and go running off down my street.
Even other Republicans are turning away from these jackhole idiots who have no fucking clue how most of America lives, they are so out of touch with their selfish, immature agenda.

We have a partial paycheck coming Tuesday and that's it. H worked last week for an IOU and today starts week two. We've cut back to only essential spending and it won't matter, once we pay November's mortgage we will be broke. I go back and forth between scared and livid pissed hourly.

My BIL works for the shipyard and is getting paid in IOU's. All of which is totally against their contract. I am seriously worried. My sister just had a baby. I am sure the medical bills are going to start rolling in. I am going to have H cash out some OT. They are going to need it if this shit doesn't get figured out by November.
