So back in May I reserved a condo for dec. and paid the deposit.
Fast forward to now, I can't take the trip anymore so I emailed them to cancel. I couln't find an email receipt but I know for sure I reserved the place. They email me back saying they have no reservation uner my name. I checked my cc statement and the $400 deposit was charged on May 11. And their VRBO calendar has our exact dates blocked off on their property. It stands out b/c it's a Tues. - Sat. reservation. I emailed them back just now telling them the deposit is on my CC statement.
I'm totally cool if they don't have my reservation b/c I can't use it anymore, but I want all my deposit back in that case. Their cancellation policy is that if you cancel with at least 60 days notice you get 60% of your deposit back. Either way I'm cool, I just want to make sure I get *something* back. I'm worried that they're just going to say, "Sorry. don't have your reservation," and ignore me.
Is there any info on your credit card statement that could identify this property owner? Scour your email correspondence, check your statement for info, and dispute it with the credit card company if they won't give you anything back.
Oh, absolutely. It says, "owner's villa" right on the CC statement.

Then let VRBO know. If they refuse then I would let your CC know also to dispute the charge. GL!
