When is the best time to go weather wise and price wise? We frequently travel during shoulder season to get better rates.
We are planning a trip for my 30th birthday (would be at the end of April) and Hawaii is my 1st choice destination but I want to make sure that we won't hit awful weather/peak time prices.
End of April is a great time weather-wise and a decent time price-wise. Definitely look into Hawaii, it's a good time of year to go.
Most expensive/worst weather is over the December holidays. Don't do that.
January - March continues to be expensive because of spring breaks/snowbirds on vacation but weather gets better as spring approaches (less rainy).
Summer gets busy with families on vacation.
I think September is the best time to go if you are looking for low prices and good weather, but April is a good alternative and not going to be significantly more money.
I agree with pinkroses -- September is great as far as weather, pricing, and crowds, and I'd include October, too. Late April would be good, too, but I'm not sure how the prices stack up against fall.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

We went to Kauai at the end of May and it was perfect. We barely got any rain and there weren't many crowds. Most of the condo rates I looked at seemed to go up either early to mid June.
End of April will be great! I've been in March and July (work in a school), so I can definitely tell you to avoid those two months. April shouldn't be too crowded and weather will be excellent.
I went once in April and it was my least favorite time - rainy, overcast, cooler, windy. But I love late May, early June or Sept/oct for less crowds and great weather. We are going in Nov this year and I hoping its will be nice still.
It depends what island you want for weather, but overall there isnt a "bad" time. We just returned from Maui and had 8 days of sunny, warm weather, but that is typical for the south shore (wailea).
we stayed at the Four Seasons which I cannot recommend enough. Loved it.
I think you'd be able to get a good deal in April. I've never been there that time of the year though so I don't know what the weather is like. I've been Jan-March and while it may rain early in the morning some days, its still lovely. We're going in 2014 again to Kauai the whole time...I hope its not rainy!
We went to the BI and Oahu in early October two years ago, and the weather was perfect. I think we had one rainy morning but otherwise it was mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
