She's currently 58 lbs. She should weigh closer to 45 lbs. I keep thinking I'm feeding her too little, but she's not dropping. I only give her a cup a day of a high quality food (I get it from amazon, but the name is escaping me right now--it has real chicken as the first ingredient). We are constantly trying to keep excess out of her mouth, but my 3 year old isn't entirely cooperative. We just lost my old, sick buddy who took up a ton of my time (wouldn't have it any other way), but now it's just Sadie, and we have to get this under control.
How much exercise does she get? At being 45lbs and getting one cup a day, I don't see how you could reduce it anymore. Will she fetch toy/stick/ball? Walk around the block?
My dogs are bigger than her, and the amount we feed them is perfect. But when they get less exercise in the winter, they put on a bit of weight. In the summer, we run, walk, hike, play fetch much more often and it comes right off.

I would feed twice a day instead of once; just halve the total amount and do morning and evening meals.
Also, exercise. That is a huge factor. Most dogs get way less than they need. I fostered an 85-pound retired racing greyhound who needed to be more like 75. We walked 3+ miles daily, and he got no-salt-added canned green beans with his kibble to add bulk but not calories and keep him full. He lost about a pound a week while we had him.

I would feed twice a day as well. If she is not losing weight, she is still getting în too many calories, or has a medical condition. Has a vet checked her over and given you ideas? If she has been cleared of medical issues, I would mover her down to 3/4 c a day and add in frozen veggies as fillers (carrots, green beans etc) Excercised is important, too.
Remember it takes some time for the weight to come off. When my vet wanted to take 10lbs off my Rottie, she wanted it done over a 6-8 month period.

It could be the food, even if it is good quality. I couldnt get my female to lose about 5 necessary pounds for the life of me. I switched their food about a year ago for a different reason and bam... weight was gone in around a month. I switched to Fromm grain free and they actually lost so much that I went to the regular Fromm that has grain but only the "good" kind.
I second having her checked by the vet just to assure there isnt anything going on and feeding twice a day.
