Me too! And if I go to a company's website and it looks like it was made by someone who picked up a copy of Website for Dummies in 1995, then I'll typically go with a competitor. I was recently googling plantation shutters in my area, and one website was so bad that I actually wondered if they were a legitimate company.
I recently offered up some constructive criticism on the website of an org I belong to, and was promptly told that since they don't have the budget to devote to these things the website is strictly done by volunteers and I should be grateful they are willing to do that much work.
Except the website has been exactly the same since Al Gore invented pants, so.....how much work are we really talking about for these volunteers? And all I suggested was a simple title change for a couple of fields in their info sheets so it would be less confusing. Not exactly a design overhaul.
I blame the fact that the org is largely dominated by the 45 and older crowd.

I actually volunteered to help my kids' school's pto website. It hasn't been updated since the 1st day of school 2 years ago. I lose papers/forms that come home in the backpack. I looked about 10 times this year before I realized they don't update the activities calendar or put order forms, etc online.
Where I live is notorious for businesses without websites. Or they have them, but they haven't been updated in three years. Or the business went belly-up two years ago, and the website remains.
I hate when they won't even give you a general idea of their pricing, especially when it comes to kids' shit.
Look, bitches, I don't have $155/mo for dance classes so if you just list that on your site, I'll save you some time and energy. It's not like once I get in there, I'm going to magically see your value and find myself not needing to pay my utility bill.
Churches are terrible about this too. I want to know what time your services start, where you are located, and what activities you have for my kids. If you can't manage this, I'm not sure what to tell you.
If a writer of Twilight fan fic can figure out how to make a snazzy blog, you little business owner can figure out blogger, mmmkay?
When we were moving into our house, we wanted to get takeout from the wing place down the street. It has carryout ordering, but no website. None. How the fuck do you not put your menu online for carryout? How do I know what you have? Yes, I can come pick up a paper menu from you, but that defeats the purpose.
Restaurants and doctor's offices have the worst websites. It's like they don't think about what people actually want to know about their business and instead just want a lot of content that customers don't care about.

I hate how it seems like the cost of doctors visits is a big fucking mystery. I want a price list so I don't have a heart attack and continue the cycle.
Can we just make it unity horse issue that no one gives a flying fucking about any business' philosophy? At least not so much so that it needs to be displayed nearly as prominently as it usually is?

All I want is to see takeout menus. I don't need anything fancy. A simple list or even just a scanned menu is fine.
My YMCA has a decent website. It's a little outdated, but it at least has the basic info I need. The only thing I wish they would do is have a calender that shows when the pool is closed for swim meets.
LMAO at this thread. As a person who spends most of the day doing research, I get so fricking annoyed with poorly designed web pages that lead to broken links. Fix that shit and have a decent search function.
