Looks really good!!! DH and I dressed up two years ago and I did our make up... Took my way longer than 20 minutes! And I wish I used color around the eyes.
(Sorry to butt in but I love sugar skulls! I saw the post while browsing new threads).

Oh and I think a little black dress would be perfect, but instead of a veil what about big colorful flowers? I see that in paintings all the time, they could coordinate with the pink you used.

This is fantastic! I had never heard of sugar skulls until you posted your inspiration video the other day. I canNOT believe this was your first attempt! I think you must be holding out on us!
Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where the day is a bank holiday. The celebration takes place on November 1 and 2, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased
Sugar skulls are for Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead). We celebrated it every year in Spanish class when I was in jr. high and high school. So...13+ years ago. It's been around for a very, very long time. Also, my bff and her family celebrates it so I've been making sugar skulls for years.

Beautiful first attempt! I really love the bright colors around the eyes. Sugar skull/vintage dress was my original plan for Halloween, you can get so intricate with the designs, I love it.

Awesome!
I saw this video posted on ML and I love the shading from dark to light around the eyes. I thought it would look cool to fade from dark pink to medium pink in your look, but if you don't think so, feel free to ignore!
Sheesh, I just realized all the love in this post. Thanks guys! For my first attempt I am pretty stoked - so I am excited to play more this weekend.
glitzyglow I will check it out - I was thinking my next one would be a more feminine version - I also bought a mixing liquid so I can mix my MAC pigments and get some other vibrant colors.
I can't wait to see it!
In the video she fades around her eyes from a black layered over blue to blue. I noticed to you did pink and thought how pretty it would be to fade with several pinks in there, or even black to pink! What other colors are you thinking of adding to your look?
I love sugar skulls and I have been thinking in doing one. And then you posted this and it gave me the jump I needed. Yours turned out beautiful, love it.
Heres mine attempt tonight after getting some inspirations from pinterest too.
