What popular book disappointed you?

I am just about to finish Salem's Lot by Steven King and while it was great writing, I didn't find myself scared. I am disappointed.

You go. What book did you find stupid/boring/etc that is a classic?

I'm not a fan of Charles Dickens at all. I also was left feeling very "blah" after Jane Eyre.

50 Shades of Grey. Hands down. I'm the type that once I start something, I have to finish. Plus, I ordered all of them at the same time. I subjected myself to all three of those books.

Were you really disappointed or was it just that colossal of a train wreck?

It was a hot mess for me but I wasn't expecting anything less so I wasn't disappointed.

I'm with you though...once I start reading something I have to finish it.

Yeah, some admissions representative at my college randomly came up and asked if I had read 50 Shades. Creeped me out.

I agree with 50 being a complete train wreck. I've read the first two and will read the third only because I want to finish it.

I agree with you on Salem's Lot. Have you read It? That book scared the crap out of me, I love to read horror so I'm really picky when it comes to that genre.

Bel Canto really disappointed me. All of my friends recommended it. I also started the Game of Thrones series recently, and I'm not really enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

I liked it, but it was just meh, I was looking forward to being scared but I wasn't. It was a good story, but it wasn't scary.

I usually recommend the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Book 19 should come out soon. They are really easy reads.
I read the first of the All Souls series a couple months ago. It's called A Discovery of Witches. I really liked it. The second one comes out this summer.

Yep! It's pretty good! It's scarier than Salem's Lot and a lot shorter lol You should check out Stephen King's son, I think his name is Joe Hill? His stuff is pretty good too.

This. And generally if I think I really dislike a book I put it down about 40 pages or so end and never bring it back up.

Actually, now that I think about it...

All of the books Nicholas Sparks has ever written... ever.

I read "The Lucky One" for a book club once, so I couldn't just toss it in the trash where it belongs.

I don't mind the movies on a rainy day when I'm bored but every book of his I've read has been so boring. I'd rather watch ants build a mound.
