Hello!
I guess the only thing that qualifies as exciting for me is that after my next Remicade treatment in a few weeks, I am approved to start at-home infusions instead of going to a hospital day-surgery center! It won't be until January when I have my first mobile infusion, but I'm looking forward to not having to go anywhere to get it done.
The results of my gastric emptying study were inconclusive because I couldn't eat the eggs, so that was a huge waste of time. I was supposed to have a colonoscopy on Monday, but I had to cancel it because life got in the way. My doctor wants me to go gluten free because of my thyroid issues, but that also has been put on hold until life settles down.
I'm pretty much at a stand still. I'm feeling like a debbie downer today. :/
We had to the dosage of my imuran because my GI wasn't excited about how many symptoms I was having (I tracked everything on an excel sheet for one month and earned the title of "best patient ever"). My WBC count dropped when we checked 2 weeks later so we have to draw again next week to make sure I don't need to scale back down on my meds. I suspect my counts will be all over the place now though because I have strep throat. That's okay - have to keep it interesting one way or another!
I have an appt with my hematologist on Friday to see if I need another iron infusion. Based on my recent blood draws at my GI's, my hgb is fantastic! I'm oddly proud of this. Hopefully the rest of my numbers are good. I don't mind the iron infusions, but I'd really like my body to start working on its own.
After 8 months, I'm getting really close to "maintenance" phase and it's nice. I hope the rest of you who are still going through the diagnostic process don't give up - it may take a while (I lived with very painful symptoms for 8 years before I even knew what Crohn's was) but it's worth it.
I have my next appointment on the 30th. we had to lower the dose of the Imuran because my liver count was too high. I feel pretty good. I've had a couple of bad days, and I think I've traced it to drinking too much tea and coffee. Giving that up now, so we'll see if that helps.
I'm really hoping to get the okay to TTC by the end of the year.
I'm gaining weight, yay!!! I suspect it may be due to eating more processed foods since we moved back to the U.S., but can I pretend it's the protein powders I've been putting in my super-healthy morning smoothies?
Also. I brought my blood sugar down 2/10 of a point since having it measured about 10 months ago. This takes me from "pre-diabetic" to "not really a big deal as long as you keep an eye on it."
ETA: And yes, it's weird to have the combined health issues of being underweight and having high blood sugar. Yay for crappy genes!
