My car seat cover is in bad shape from my son but the car seat itself is only 2 years old and in great shape. I'd hate to pay to replace the entire thing just for a new cover. I checked Graco's website and it doesn't look like they sell replacement covers. I found these on ebay, but I think I remember reading somewhere that you should only use replacement parts from the manufacturer directly.
I'd rather use the old, ugly, worn out cover than jeopardize the safety of the baby and/or the effectiveness of the carseat. Anyone know anything about this?

I don't think that the cover would interfere with the safety. None of the straps attach to it in anyway. I think you'd be fine getting a non Gracco cover.
OK, I feel like I read on this board that changes to the car seat (using non approved/manufacturer produced parts/accessories) could (1) void the warranty, and (2) be cause for safety concerns. I'm just trying to recall what the issue was and whether I'm remembering it correctly or not. I feel like the straps would be looser because of the added material, but it would still hug her body and would be tight enough to protect her.
