I see a lot of mention of Mac shadows. I only have one but Don't think the color is intense enough. I have to put on so many layers to even see a little color. Did I just get a bad one?
It seems that the quality of the shadows vary, with most being good, but some being crappy. I read reviews of each shade before purchasing, and I did go with at least one that has mixed reviews (Creme de Violet, which people complain about being not very pigmented). One shade I considered, Miss Piggy Pink, gets horrible reviews, and from swatches I could see that it barely showed up unless it was caked on. However, with other shades, people really rave about the quality. It seems like with MAC shadows, it's best to do your research first on the specific colors rather than buying on a whim, or you could end up with a not so great product.
Take this with a grain of salt, as I haven't even used MAC shadows yet, but have read lots of online reviews.
I have haux. I've had it for a while but never use it due to the lack of pigment. Good to hear they're not all like that. Eta: any recommendations on where to find consistent reviews? A quick google search showed most people loving it. Now I'm back to wondering if I got a dud?
I like makeupalley.com. I look at the overall rating but also read several pages of reviews. (And disqualify some of them in my head. Some people are idiots. Lol)
Temptalia.com has the best swatches I've found, and she reviews every MAC collection, so you'll find a fairly comprehensive swatch gallery on the website. I never, ever buy MAC shadows unless I've seen reviews and swatches, or I've swatched them in person. The quality is just too hit and miss to do otherwise.
