At 16 weeks, but it was because we were sent to the high risk floor due to elevated levels of AFP and they tell you if you want to know. Otherwise, 20 weeks is the earliest they will tell you here.
We booked an elective u/s at a private u/s center for 18w. They do it as early as 16w, but we wanted to wait until my birthday. Scan is a week from tomorrow! We've been having trouble bonding with the baby as much as we would like, because we've been so worried about having another loss. We decided that an earlier gender scan would help us bond more, and would be fun thing to do for my birthday. Turns out it's only a few weeks before my a/s (we thought we'd have to wait till closer to 25 weeks for the a/s).

In the first and second tri we had ultrasounds every 2 weeks so we knew we'd find out at the Dr's office. It was around the 16 week mark that we found out. It probably could have been earlier, around 14 weeks, but H wasn't able to be there for that appointment so we waited.
We tried an elective place at 15 weeks but they could only say 90% chance of a boy. I ended up getting a surprise ultrasound at the doctor mid week of my 15th week and they confirmed it.
We will find out at our A/S at 19 weeks 6 days. I for sure would have gotten an elective if my mom lived in town, but since she is scheduled to come in for it we are waiting. I can't wait to find out, because even though I don't care what we have I've been having a rough time with being sick and think it will help me bond, and I'll be able to shop and decorate, etc.
We did an elective at 16 weeks, 3 days. Honestly, it was just ok, but i blame that more on the facility. I was excited to find out the sex, so that part was great, but I also really wanted the photos and DVD that came with the package. The u/s I have at my OB's office are much better, so the DVD and photos are crappy and pretty useless, but it got the job done overall.
We didn't have anyone else with us, but we called family afterward.
17 weeks 2 days through an elective u/s. We had gone the day before for a regular u/s and the tech refused to check, so since we'd pretty much had our hopes way up that day (because our next u/s was not going to be until 22 weeks), we decided to call an elective place that afternoon and they happened to have an opening the next evening. It was a really great experience.
We found out when I was just over 20 weeks at the anatomy scan. The weeks leading up to it seemed like torture, waiting, but in retrospect it wasn't so bad, and was kind of fun to have something to look forward to!

They gave us a guess at our 13 week NT scan, but we've been a little hesitant to really go off that since it was still pretty early. Our anatomy scan is scheduled for next Monday, and I'll be just over 19 weeks. Yay! Can't wait!

special snowflake?
We had our anatomy scan at 19 weeks but the tech couldn't tell the sex as baby had its legs closed. As DH had the day off work, we decided to get a last minute appointment at an elective place that afternoon. The baby still had its legs closed so the tech couldn't give us a definitive answer. I don't think we get any more scans with the OB and have decided not to pay anymore so we are "team green - not by choice".
