Nika is going away for two weeks, to siberian husky nationals. We have never left her longer than overnight. I saw her little chewy squirrel and just lost it. She will have fun - she is traveling with 20 other huskies, and will see all her litter mates - but I am beyond upset.
We've been saying this all morning. If she were a human child's he would be old enough for summer camp and we would send her. I got so mopey, then asked DH how people send their 5 y/olds off to boarding school. We had even considered boarding school for our future kids. But if I can't let the dog go how will I let out children go?
update: DH and I are going to New York next week. He is changing his return flight to fly through Michigan. He will then spend the last week of nationals with Nika. So I won't be with her but DH will and that makes me feel much better.

Hmm. Is there a competition in Michigan?
I'm glad he gets to see her! He can send you pics as well!
Two weeks is a long time, I'd be a mess too! You'd think being gone that long would affect their performance. Maxim is a hot wreck after not seeing us for a week, and Buddy has been known to go on hunger strikes.
None of this is helpful. My dogs are insane - your dog will do great
