I'm trying to find new ways to be active, since just going to the gym doesn't work for me (I get bored and continuously put it off.) I'm currently doing C25K to build up my cardio, and after that I'd like to start playing tennis.
Thing is, I've never actually played tennis, so I have no clue how to go about learning it. Should I take lessons? Do I probably need to join some type of club?
There is a tennis meetup group in my area that says they welcome beginners, but I don't know how interested they'd be in straight up teaching me how to play the game.
I feel stupid for feeling so lost about this, haha. Any thoughts?
I just started taking tennis lessons and love it! I am super lucky that my friend was the local high school coach and is teaching me once a week for free. It's more of workout than I thought it would be, more so when we use the ball machine!
For me, I would not be comfortable playing with a group or club until I had a few lessons under my belt. Maybe someone from the club would do lessons or your local parks and rec might offer inexpensive group lessons.
Yeah, I would probably start with lessons if you can find them. I know we have a local tennis club that offers them (but they are pricey!) and our local rec dept. offers them as well. If it were me I'd probably try the rec dept or community center first or even your local Y.
