What cake should I make for DH's birthday?

I'd love some links for new ideas. Otherwise he'll end up with a ridiculous chocolate, orange, hazelnut, mousse, ganache thingy I just found on epicurious. But that would be all about me, not him.

Easy but delicious / interesting would be great.

I came in to say red velvet, because that is always my answer, but I suspect this is not fancy enough lol

My go to is lava cake because it is easy and my husband loves chocolate. Personally, I like chocolate praline cakes.

That is plenty fancy. I went with a lego cake for him a few years ago. (White cake shaped into a lego block). One of you had made it for her kid :-)

I am loving that suesue is pushing the orange frosting. I keep imaging her all excited for someone to taste it and love it as much as her.

I made a Black Forest cake for my DH's birthday this weekend. It was much faster than my usual chocolate raspberry ganache cake.

If he's a chocolate lover - annies eats classic chocolate layer cake - and make the icing called for. So so good. Also her tunnel of fudge cake is delicious.
