I would say 3. But pictures sometimes take waaay longer than expected. I was late to my "reception" because my photographer said, "One more roll," which was, like, 48 more shots. I had no clue (was thinking 12-24, tops) and was pissed, but not about to walk out. Thank God we had an open bar, and food was served before we got there. I was extremely apologetic when we arrived, too. Also, we only had about twenty people total at our wedding.
Was this your first wedding? Are you married yourself? How did the schedule go at yours?
Yes, I am married, and I have been to dozens of weddings. That is why I when it stated 3 I "assumed" it would have been closer to 315/330 that they would have arrived. Based on several of the other posters they also would have thought that the wedding party would have arrived sooner than even 4pm (however, many stated 4, so if in this situation again, I will keep that in mind). The wedding was at 1, we were out of the church by 135, reception was 15 minutes away, the card didnt state cocktail hour, there was a clear break between the ceremony and reception, hence my false assumption.
The last one we went to the reception was at 3 and I don't think the b &g showed up until after 6. I was pissed. Their "cocktail hor" consisted of cheese and crackers and grapes. The bar was just beer mad wine but they pretty much ran out around dinner and had to go for more. Not to many people stayed much past dinner.
E.t.a. We would have left but had just drove 2 hours to get there and it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere, the kids were angels otherwise we probably would have just left.
I would be PIST!
we were. the mob is very anal and proper with everything. would not have expected this from them. I even asked to double check if it was right "reception immediately following ceremony" It just seemed early for a 2:00 ceremony. I just figured the reception was going to be an early one. I got drunk with my grandma so it wasn't a total loss!

4pm
I'd assume that the cocktail hour is from 3-4. The bridal party takes pictures, sometimes traveling to another location, and then the arrive when the reception starts. They are announced into the room.
